Our extra-curricular highlights
Debating and public speaking
Students can develop their thinking, communication and teamwork skills through debating and public speaking. They also have the chance to compete in local and state events.
Creative and performing arts
Our drama, music and art programs help students be creative and express themselves. They can join in concerts, art shows and drama activities.
Trips and excursions
Our students enjoy getting out of the classroom to explore, learn and try new things. These experiences help them grow, build confidence and see how their learning connects to the world.
Day at the farm
Every year, Year 5 and 6 students are invited to Wingham High School to take part in Beef Week. During this event, Wingham High School students teach primary school students how to prepare and show cattle. The visiting students also get to join in other fun farm and agricultural activities.
Signing choir
The signing choir includes students from Years 3 to 6 who perform songs using sign language. They take part in special events and assemblies, helping include people who are deaf or hard of hearing. The choir teaches students teamwork, sign language skills, and raises awareness about different ways to communicate. It’s a fun and important way to share music with everyone
Tinker club
Tinker Club is a lunchtime group for students who enjoy taking things apart and putting them back together. For example, they might work on bikes. It’s a fun way for students to learn how things work and practice fixing or building things
Gardening
Each class has their very own garden they look after.
Pottery
Miss Rachel joins us weekly to create amazing pottery pieces.
Busy Bees
Busy Bees operates every Thursday lunchtime. Each week Miss Abbie has a different activity planned.
Cooking
FEAST (Food Education and Sustainability Training) is a program for primary schools that fits with the school curriculum. It teaches students about food waste and how it affects the environment. The program helps students learn healthy food habits and includes simple cooking activities in the classroom. FEAST is designed to be fun, interesting, and full of delicious food!
Sport
Lansdowne Public School's involvement in Swimming, Cross Country, Athletics, and Soccer Gala Days provides excellent opportunities for students to engage in physical activity, develop teamwork skills, and enjoy healthy competition.
Additionally, participating in term sports through the Sporting Schools program is a fantastic way for students to stay active and try a variety of sports. Sporting Schools is an Australian Government initiative designed to increase children's participation in sport and physical activity.
Intensive swimming lessons
The NSW Department of Education School Swimming Scheme is an intensive learn to swim program, which develops water confidence and provides students with basic skills in water safety and survival.
CPR
Every year, students in Years 3 to 6 take part in CPR training through the NSW CPR Program and Royal Life Saving.
